Janeu/Janou is definitely one of the main items used in Pooja. Pooja is an integral part of the life of Indians. In India pooja is celebrated with great pomp and show. Pooja is performed in front of the idols on the pooja days. In the Hindu families, however pooja is performed regularly at home by the family members. Durga Puja is the grand festival of the Hindus and this pooja is celebrated by the people of all races. As religion plays a big role in the socio cultural scenario in India, the poojas play a big role and celebrated through out the year.

Janeu/Janou marks an integral part of the culture of India. It is an important part of the pooja. The Janeu/Janou is a white thread, which is worn by the priest while performing the pooja. In Indian tradition Janeu/Janou is considered as a sacred thread while worshipping the Gods and Goddesses. The auspicious white thread or Janeu/Janou is granted to an unmarried boy on a special ceremony called the Upanayan Sanskar. The Janeu/Janou is considered necessary to wear during the pooja. After getting the Janeu/Janou one gets the honor participate in every Vedic ritual. The ceremony of presenting the Janeu/Janou is done usually during the childhood and a mandatory. The Janeu/Janou has an important role in pooja.
